Rath Yatra

Jai Jagannath

Shree Jagannathji, Lord Baldevji, Devi Subhadraji and Shree Sudarshanji are the newest deities to grace our temple. They are worshipped here in the authentic tradition of Puri, Odisha.

Since their arrival, many new families have joined our temple congregation, and the Jagannath family has become dear to devotees of every background.

Fourth Saturday Program

The Jagannathji program takes place every fourth Saturday of the month. Devotees come together for Puja, Bhajans and Kirtans starting at 5:30 PM. Jagannath devotees love to sing Bhajans with great love and devotion.

At 7:00 PM the evening Aarti is offered, and everyone is then invited to share Mahaprasad.

Festivals Through the Year

Throughout the year, Jagannath devotees celebrate many festivals, such as Dola Yatra, Akshaya Tritiya, Snana Yatra and Netro Utsav. The biggest festival of all is the Rath Yatra.

Rath Yatra

Our temple celebrates one of the biggest Rath Yatras in Southern California. It is held four weeks after Snana Purnima, following Netro Utsav.

Adorned in silk garments, the deities ride a beautifully decorated chariot. After the Chhera Pahanra (sweeping ceremony), the procession begins with chanting, Bhajans and devotees dancing before the chariot. The Lord is offered Chappan Bhog (56 offerings), and devotees are served Odia Mahaprasad.

The Lord then stays at Mausi Ma Ghar, the home of His aunt, where Aarti is offered every day. At the end of His stay, He returns home on the chariot known as Bahuda Yatra.
